Bit AMD's market share Intel in 2009

Microprocessor sales increased by 31.3% in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to same period in 2008. Thus, AMD increased its market share in the segment processors for laptops and desktops. After the record reached in the third and fourth quarter of 2009, global sales of microprocessors could rise by 15.1% in 2010, announces research company IDC.

Intel held a market share of 80.5% in the fourth quarter, down from 81.9%, as had in the fourth quarter of 2008. Market share in the fourth quarter for AMD was 19.4% in the fourth quarter, up from 17.7%.

AMD has registered an important advance in the first quarter of 2009 when sales fell Intel, IDC analysts say. Also, AMD has gained market share through aggressive pricing.

Also, Intel and AMD have achieved results beyond expectations in Q4, and IDC analysts believe that the microprocessor industry will grow in 2010 due to growing costs made by consumers and companies.

The two companies will continue to be based on expansion into new markets, such as a tablet PC, as well as in emerging countries, to cover the market of cheap computers.
